Other acts who were to serve | as "surprise guests" balked at the fact they i wouldn't be paid, and left organizers in a bind. But Ms McKinnett saved the day. It has been crystal clear in the numerous and ongoing requests that have flooded in, seeking our photographers for pictures of donations to Operation Scugog. The volun- teers at the local food bank are working dili- gently to make sure the area's needy are provided with a Christmas meal and toys for the youngsters, as they have every year. There are many other examples, and all are cause for reflection, and even celebra- tion. If we could share our kindness and our wealth all year, it would be a better world. That said, please accept our sincere | wishes for a bright and happy holiday sea- son, be it Christmas, Hanukkah, or a cele- bration of a different nature. Each year we receive strong support from our readers and advertisers, and want you to know how much we appreciate it. Happy Holidays. REMEMBER 55 YEARS AGO Thursday, December 24, 1942 A.W. He was the last stu- dent to come home for the holidays and while waiting for his bus all his clothes and personal effects (Nintendo 64, games, etc.) were stolen. Saturday morning my wife took the kids with her to go to our credit union to make a deposit 'while dad is running around Port getting some gifts. Dad gets home to find a message on the machine that there was a car crash in Goodwood dw, Cottage Hospital in Uxbridge. A woman had run a stop sign and my wife had no chance of avoiding the collision. All three were injured, my wife the worst with neck and back injury. We are all home together now (minus one car which is a write-off) and can honestly say we are so grateful we still have each other this Christmas...all the rest of the stresses somehow seem trivial. May you all have a great safe holiday and remember to count your blessings. Letter of Doug Bauer, Pine Point Lane WHEN....?
