This is the first grandchild for Marg and Neil Lee of Nestleton. They sure are tickled pink with this new addition to their family. I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter holiday with family and friends. The school children enjoyed the holiday as they were off school for a four day week- end. Cartwright High School Saturday, April 18 the Cartwright High School Band is holding their annu- al MusicFeast at the Blackstock Rec. Centre. Dinner is at 7 p.m. and the cost for tickets is $15 per person. There will be raffle draws and also a silent auc- tion. The band members work very hard for this din- ner. The service on Easter Sunday was delightful. Dennis, Karen Yellowlees and family were the greeters. Stepehen Delore became a confirmed mem- ber of the church during a renewal of baptismal faith ceremony performed by Reverend Shearman and Richard MacKenzie. The sermon for the morning was "Teacher!" Reverend Shearman talked about see- ing The Face of God in the little things that people do. Dennis Yellowlees was the reader. Christine and Dennis Yellowlees took the collection. Easter morning saw the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The choir sang the delightful song "Our God Reigns Medley." The Nestleton U.C.W. is Nestleton Presbyterian Church Good Friday A service in observance of Good Friday was held in Nestleton Presbyterian Church with an excellent attendance. Rev. Wm. Fairley was minister and Joyce Taylor organist. Beautiful Easter Lilies graced the chancel and sea- sonal music was a duet "Lead Me To Calvary" by Danielle and Harvey, and a guitar accompaniment and solo by Harvey - "Every Ring of the Hammer." Rev. Fairley spoke of the last events leading up to the Crucifixion, and invited all to attend the Easter Church Service to be held April 12 at 11 a.m. Easter Sunday On a beautiful sunny morning there was an impressive Easter Day Service at 11 a.m. Joyce Taylor organist, played for the hymns, and accompa- nied the Sunday School class in two choruses, Danielle directing. The offertory was "Because He - Nestleton having their annual Spring Lived." Ushers were Oliver United Church Smorgasbord Supper on Rohrer and Harvey Mills. The Good Friday Church Saturday, May 2. There are Rev. Fairley spoke on Service was held as a joint service between Nestleton and Blackstock at the Nestleton United Church. "The Joy of Easter," and the origin of "Hot Cross Buns" was discussed in the talk with the Sunday School. Lunch and a social time was enjoyed in the Sunday School Room. The church's annual talent auction is planned for April 25 My hopes that everyone had an enjoyable Easter with the many family gatherings that were held. In addition the weather was absolutely beautiful. Many of our "Snowbirds" are returning home again with still a few yet to come. A warm welcome is extended to Dr. Ralph Price who begins his Blackstock practice on Tuesday of this week. Several have asked about the History book to which I referred in last week's news telling about the historical background of doctors in the village. It is the blue paperback History of Cartwright book that sells for $2.50 and 1s available from Janice Beechey or myself), Joyce Kelly at 986-4257. The Retirement Tea in Uxbridge Public School on Thursday afternoon in honor of Peter Dean was well attended. Several for- mer students and staff Blackstock from his days at CCPS were present. Best wishes to you Peter on your upcoming move to the Maritimes. The annual music fundraiser for the Cartwright High School Band will be held on Saturday evening, April 18 at the Rec. Centre. If you wish tickets for this dinner and enjoyable evening, call the high school as soon as possible. Another fun night that also is a fundraiser is the annual Talent Auction of the Blackstock United Church which will be held on Friday, April 25 at the church. Customarily auc- tioneers Harvey Graham and Arnot Wotten combine their talents for an enter- taining evening. Mark your calendars now. There were 12 tables at the weekly card party with the following win- ners: Charlie Campbell, Charlie Stapleton, Mary Cannon, Marie Gibson, Edna Manns, Richard Potter and Marie Crawford. Lucky draws were won by John Archer, Elwood Manns, Lyle McMahon, Ruby Smith, Verna Slute and Merv Storie. On Sunday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. a community shower will be held for bride-to-be Susan Kyte at the Blackstock United Church. All are welcome to attend this happy event.
