Ms Kastelic passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 22 after a battle with cancer over the past year. Ms Kastelic will be remembered for her creative flair. An astute business woman, she brought her innovative and original style to her Port Perry retail stores. Everyone who knew Marta will remember her warm smile and cheerful, outgoing personality. Her philosophy was to create a friendly, cozy envi- ronment in which people would be happy to come in and shop, or drop in for a chat. She was the type of person who was amazingly considerate of her friends, often surprising them with little tokens of her affection and caring ways. Forever supportive in her community, Ms Kastelic was a giving person who gave freely to many organizations and charities. She organized and sponsored the dazzling ice sculpture display at Palmer Park, a scene thousands of locals and OBITUARY tourists admired in the winter. Community organizations and service clubs benefited from her generosity. Marta donated annually to the Rotary Art Fest and the Lakeridge Health Corporation's Silent Auction. Scouting, Guiding, golf tournaments and other local service clubs also benefited from her generosity. She loved children. Often Marta held special promotions which saw proceeds going to the Children's Wish Foundation. It was through a charity event for another cancer victim, Thom Doran, that Marta met her life partner, Judd Moore, owner of the Emerald Mare Restaurant. During her illness Judd was her continual comfort and strength. Lovingly missed by her parents, John and Neza Kastelic, Marta was also a friend and devoted sister to her brothers Tony and Ivan. On behalf of Marta, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
