It seems everyone this year is in the giving spir- it, and that bodes well for Scugog's less fortu- nate this Christmas sea- son. "Things are going very well this year; there seem to be lots of dona- tions everywhere," said Ms Wanninkhof yester- day morning. "We've had a small increase in the number of applications (for help) and I'm very pleased with all the support we're getting from the community. Overall, everyone's been great." For close to 20 years now, the local food bank has been helping feed the township's hungry and 1998 will not be an exception, she said. While food drives in Scugog have seen both good and bad times, the community seems deter- mined to make this year a great one for those in need. Between area stores sponsoring families, the Port Perry High School students' corporate food challenge and various activities charging entrance fees of non-per- ishable food items -- as well as the usual good results from drop-off spots at the three local grocery stores -- Operation Scugog is hav- ing another successful year, she said. "We're doing great this year, the donations are really coming in, said Ms Wanninkhof, adding that cash dona- tions can be made to Operation Scugog, Box 353, Port Perry. "This year has been excellent so far. The co- operation of everyone in Scugog Township is over- whelming." LOTS - LOTS MORE! DON'T MISS IT! Free Ice Escapes with Floatation Suit!
