The Regional Municipality of Durham has addressed the need to provide additional sewage treatment capacity for Port Perry in the 'Township of Scugog and has proposed to expand the sewage treatment capabilities of the existing plant located on the south side of 8th Concession and west of Old Simcoe Road. An Environmental Study Report (ESR) was completed and filed with the Regional Clerk and placed in the public record for review on May 9, 1995. As described in the ESR, the proposed action involved an upgrade of the existing waste stabilization ponds to provide secondary treatment and seasonal storage, followed by tertiary treatment with effluent filtration, under a single contract. The Addendum to the ESR proposes that the upgrades be carried out in 2 phases The first phase of the upgrades involves modifications to the existing waste stabilization ponds to provide secondary treatment and additional seasonal storage. The second phase is to develop tertiary treatment with effluent filtration The Addendum is available for review at the following locations: Regional Municipality of Durham Clerk's Department 605 Rossland Road East Whitby, Ontario LIN BA3 Township of Scugog Clerk s Department 208 North Street, Port Perry Port Perry, Ontorio 19L 1A7 Regional Municipality of Durham Works Department 105 Consumers Drive Whitby, Ontario LIN BA3 Port Perry Public Library 231 Water Street Port Perry, Ontario MacViro Consultants Inc. 90 Allstate Parkway, Suite 600 Markham, Ontario L3R 6H3 Subject to comments received and receipt of the neccessary approvals, the Region intends to proceed with final design and construction of the project.
