The year 1999 will mark the 90th anniversary of powered flight in Canada - - Feb. 23, 1909; the 100th anniversary of an incredi- ble 1,000-mile bicycle ride down the frozen Yukon River in February 1899 at the end of Klondike Gold Rush; and the 75th year of the Canadian Air Force. "This is an incredible year for Canadian history and I'd like to see people realize how important it really is," said Mr. Foster recently. "People look at planes and think that they're not accessible... that you can't get close to them and under- stand them because they fly 30,000-feet high and cost $70 million. "Well they are accessible and we're going to prove it right on Lake Scugog. Planes came out of the skills of a bicycle shop, that's where." And, while the main focus of the two-day event will be bikes and planes, Mr. Foster said he wants people to come out and enjoy the activities as a family. "This is a family thing; there's stuff for mom and dad and the kids... it is something I think everyone should come out for and just have fun with. It's free, and it's going to be a lot of *Dr. J.
