12- PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, May 11, 1999 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" At last, we finally got some of that rain we needed By Ann Sandiford Seagrave News Hope everyone enjoyed this past weekend. Hope all moms (and grandmas) had a happy Mother's Day. 'Finally we got some of the rain we needed so badly. Too bad it didn't come during the week rather than on Saturday. Happy birthday to Heather Puckrin, Pam Wanamaker and Brett Puckrin. We would like to make a small correction from last week's news. In last week's Seagrave column sympathy was extended to Dale and Jeanette Thomas on the death of Tyler Baker at Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto. We would like to specify that it was Jeanette's nephew Evan that passed away. Our thoughts are certainly with the family at this time. Christmas family Sunday was celebrated Sunday morning. The choir sang "I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry." Darlene Hill read the scripture from first King's three vs 16 to 28. Rev. Carson's sermon was "A Mother Who Gives Us a Glimpse of God." Kate McDonald assist- ed Rev. Carson in the sacrament of Baptism when Dale and Jeanette Thomas presented their son Cody Mitchell and James and Lori presented their daughter, Marley Hayes for Baptism. The Seagrave Church yard sale is on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 at the home of Len and Betty Somerville. The FORD F-150 'fe Can Help' U.C.W. will have a bake sale on Friday at 9 a.m. More details to follow. The Men's Breakfast on Saturday was a great success. Alex Shepherd, MP spoke about his work and had a question period after. | That's it for this week. Please call Diane Cooke at 985-3722 with your news next week.
