"A Family Tradition for 133 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, May 11, 1999 - 17 There will be work bees at Epsom, Utica churches May 22 Utica & Epsom I trust all you mothers enjoyed your big day with family, them doing the work of course (the cook- ing, washing dishes, etc.) Church and Sunday School this Sunday, May 16 will be held in Utica at 11 am. On Saturday, May 22 there will be a work bee at both churches. If any- one can volunteer and this date isn't convenient, there is a lot of work that can be done at your con- venience. Windows need cleaning, vacuuming, out- side work, etc. For more information on details and time please contact Ross Evans at 852-5411 or John Warner at 985-4760. Looking a few weeks ahead, remember the Utica Daycare's annual yard sale on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30 at Utica Hall. Donations would be appre- ciated. For information call Teresa at 985-8783. The W.I. District Annual Meeting will be held in Epsom Church on Wednesday, May 19. The speaker will be Mr. Don Crone, Community Development Coordinator for the Ronald McDonald's Children's program. The public may come out for the afternoon program which gets underway at 1:30 p.m. Several of our local U.C.W. attended the invi- tation by our sister church, Wesley-Vandorf, to attend a luncheon last Wednesday. The guest speaker was Jean Nauta from Lemmonville who is the past president of Presbytry U.C.W. The U.C.W. held a very successful bake sale on Friday at the hall and thank all who contributed in any way. The Beef Supper held on Friday and sponsored by the United Church was so well attended that there apparently was a beef shortage for which they apologize. I'm sure this won't happen again. Both the church and the U.C.W. benefitted greatly from the use of the Daycare's big sign. Thanks go to them, this certainly is the community working together. Amanda Burns and Stuart Pratt thank all those who kindly support- ed The Pampered Chef bridal shower held in their honour recently, especially Suzanne Warner for all the organization in putting this event on. Congratulations to Donna and Jeff Ireland on the arrival of a baby girl at Markham- Stouffville Hospital on Friday evening. Alice Warner has returned to her home in Niagara Falls following her stay in Utica for the past couple of months. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Skewes were visitors from Australia at the home of Melba and Bill McKay. Doug and Bill were mem- bers of the same crew on Long Range Coastal Command R.AF. aircraft from July 1943 to July 1945.
