Prior to the showing and competition, Peewee As Oshawa Blue Knights end perfect season with provincial title The Oshawa Blue Knights Peewee "A" field lacrosse team capped off a perfect 12 - 0 season by winning the Provincial title this past weekend. The final game pitted a strong Peterborough team against the Blue Knights. The Blue Knights held close leads throughout the first half. By the end of the third quarter they had a comfortable lead of 7-3. Peterborough rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game at eight points each. With 1:45 on the clock the Blue Knights scored a beautiful bounce shot to secure the win. The team now moves into its box season ending with the Provincial play- downs in August. PHOTOS ty is High Little Britain, Ontario (705) 786-0354 Central Ontario Region of Pony Clubs Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club enters qualifiers for Eastern Canadian Dressage event The Central Ontario Region of Pony Club will hold the first of its Qualifiers for the Eastern Canadian Dressage Championships on - Sunday, May 30 at Killusty Farms near Fenelon Falls, hosted by the Victoria Pony Club. Members of the Kawartha, Oshawa, Simcoe, Toronto and North York and Uxbridge- Scugog Pony Clubs have entered to date, along with representatives of the host Victoria club. Selection for the Central Ontario Dressage team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. - Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and other qualifiers hosted by the Toronto and North York Pony Club-on June 13 and by the Oshawa Pony Club on July 4. This year, the Eastern Canadian Championships are being hosted by the Western Ontario Region, on July 23 to 25 at Black's Equestrian Centre near Hamilton. Dressage is a system for training horse and rider that has its roots in ancient Greece. All work is done on the flat. Early levels emphasize walk, trot and canter on a straight line and in circles as the horse learns to carry his weight and that of his rider with safety and elegance. Horses also learn to halt on command with the four feet placed squarely, and remining immobile for four seconds. Higher levels require the horse to lengthen and shorten strides, to turn on very tight circles, to back up, and to go along the centre of the arena in an S-shaped line called a Serpentine.
