"A Family Tradition for 132 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 8, 1999 - 17 Well seniors, it's that time of the year again when the students and staff of the high school offer us the best in a band concert with a luscious snack, coffee, tea and dessert. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 9 at 1 p.m. Let's all show thanks by attending and enjoying their hospitality, fellowship and the music only these students can deliver. Please call 986-4241 to allow them to know how many they can expect. It's a great show. Blackstock Lions Last Wednesday night we had a first hand series of slides and a talk by Sandy Turner showing us what it takes to educate a seeing eye dog. Like humans not all of these dogs pass their exami- nations and end up as house pets. These guiding dogs abil- ity pretty well ends when they are about eight-years-of age. They then go and live as a family pet elsewhere. This Wednesday is a direc- tor's meeting at Keith Mclsaac's home at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12 from 2 to 9 p.m. we have the president's bash at Bruce Coldwells home with lots of fun for these hard working Lions who have done so much for their community and other institutions. Sunday there is a training course in Uxbridge from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the Lions. Birthday greetings to Merlin Suggitt on Sunday, June 13 and to Ray Wright on June 14. Albert Putsey Lake Scugog Historical Society We had a great weekend with the Nonquon Canoe Races on Saturday and the Canoe Sprints on Sunday. The weather was perfect for both events with enough overcast 'to prevent contestants from burning and the wind at points made the water a little rough but not excessive. The folks of the museum board were kept busy with their snack bar counter. A great time was enjoyed by all. There will be a board meeting this Thursday, June 10 at the museum for the directors. Caesarea Hall Board There will be a euchre this Wednesday, June 9 at 8 p.m. at the hall. Everyone wel- come. Lake Scugog Regatta Association Tom Sherwin informed me that the executive of the asso- ciation is working hard preparing for this year's Regatta. The date is July 31 and Aug. 1 and 2. Caesarea Ratepayers ~ Assoc. We ask you all if you haven't filled out your ballot on our new proposed village signs to do so before this Wednesday.
