Police report that sometime between 9:15 p.m. on June 3 and shortly after midnight on June 4 the vehicle was stolen. The owner, a Stephenson Point Rd. resident, reports that he went to work and when he returned the car was gone. The vehicle is valued at $5,000. Vehicle damaged Vandals struck a 1990 Chev van which was parked on Water St. dur- ing the evening hours of "June 3, say police. The Star learned last week that it is among the finalists in the Feature Photo category in this year's Better Newspapers Competition, held by the Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA). The photo, taken by Star editor Jeff Mitchell, has an end of the school year theme. Taken from the roof of S.A. Cawker Public School in town, it depicts a group of stu- dents tossing up paper and jumping for joy as they look forward to their summer vacation. The top three entries among submissions from across the country receive awards from the CCNA. The Star's sub- mission was chosen along with entries from British Columbia and Alberta.
