"A Family Tradition for 132 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 22, 1999 - 1% Man charged in vicious assault A Richmond Hill man has been charged with assault after a Port Perry man was injured in a scuf- fle. Police report that some- time around 1 a.m. on June 18 a 42-year-old Port Perry man and a friend were at a local pub when they met up with a 29- year-old Richmond Hill man, who was a casual acquaintance of the Scugog resident. Police say the Richmond Hill man later drove the Port Perry man to his residence, where an argument broke out. The Richmond Hill man is alleged to have . punched the Scugog resi- dent in the head several times, forcing him to the floor. When the local man got to his feet, his assailant again punched him in the head, knocking him down where he landed on a mar- ble coffee table. The accused then left the home, say police. The next day, June 19, Durham Police made con- tact with the accused, who returned to Port Perry and turned himself over to police officers. As a result of the inci- dent, a 29-year-old Richmond Hill man has been charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief. He will appear in an Oshawa court on July 29.
