Water St., Port Scott Feasby, (right) and his brother Mike, both from Port Perry, play pro- fessional hockey for the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League. The team had a banner year. After emerging champions in regular season play it won the Tarry Cup and recently won the Colonial Cup in the UHL playoffs. In photo, Scott, the captain, is holding the Colonial Cup while Mike shows off the Tarry Cup. While Mike has not signed up yet for another season on the ice Scott has committed himself to another season with the Fury. Teaching, farming beckon Feasby brothers From Page 22 of last season. After surgery, for the third consecutive-t#var, Mike will be head instructor at a hockey school at Seneca College and will be running a hockey school in Muskegon for a couple of weeks, too. For most, life as a professional hockey player in the UHL is grand. Players who have been playing four years or more can earn a decent salary. With the hockey season opening the middle of October and ending March 31, just before playoffs begin "it offers a pretty good living when you think you only work three hours a day during the sea- son," Scott says. Sometimes his family gets to see him play, too. His wife, Melanie, has come down to see several games and his father, Stan, has been a time or two. You also make friendships that last a lifetime. Having played alongside some of the same teammates for four years or more, Scott has become very close to the players. Of the 23 players on the Fury there are six Russians, one American and the rest are Canadians. After every season Scott ponders if this will be the end of his hockey career. While his dream has always been to return to the family's dairy farm in Port Perry it appears the farm role has been put on hold for another year. "When I retire from hockey I will be coming home to work on the farm," Scott says. "I've always enjoyed farming. It's a lot of hard work but it's good when you are your own boss." As for Mike, when he retires from the ice he anticipates taking up a teach- ing career in Korea. His sister, Lisa, already teaches there "and a hockey opportunity might be starting up in Korea in a year or two," Mike says. During the Stanley Cup series, Scott was rooting for the Buffalo Sabres. "When I played for the Rochester Americans I skated with five players who are now on the Sabres team." ehiziihy" * June 26 - Smal Mouth Bass 341 zehrs FOOD PLUS JD FISHING [more than pizza" . 905 & ARCHERY |985-4411 | 852-1212 i. : Pizza " i J * [oi Rooster's Se H-R.Q 27 Water St., .
