Special awards went to Eileen Slute for the best iris specimen, with her entry of "Superstition" a beautiful dark coloured tall bearded. Best decorat- ed was won by Isabelle Arcand for her design "A Memorable Highlight." Kathleen Petrie demon- strated the making of a living wreath. One of the members won this beauti- ful piece on a lucky draw. Wednesday night of this week is the rose show and general meeting of Brooklin Horticulture, to be held at the United Ashburn area news J HI TET IW: XY (e]y -- Church, Brooklin, at 8 p.m. It promises to be a great show as the roses are putting forth a great display in the gardens. Members, please check the show book, select your best and come along to compete with your fellow gardeners. The Ladies Bible Class met at the home of Bernice Gardner last Wednesday night. Meeting opened with the singing of "I Am Thine O Lord." Scripture read by Lexie Pettus from 1 John 1:5-10. Meditation was titled "There are no coinci- dences." Aldine Wick led in prayer. The hymn "Blessed Assurance" was sung. Treasurers report was given by Joan Knight. Margaret Davis gave us an interesting summary of the early history of Burns Church. Church closing prayer by Florence Ashton. We meet again in September. We were pleased to have a visit for a few days from our son Arnold, who 1s now home from Wellington, New Zealand, and will be returning there soon.
