Organized by Mark Cole, a Level 3 coach himself as well as a gym teacher at Port Perry High School and player on a local competitive mens' team, the camp will run in two one-week sessions during the month of July at the soccer pitches in Port Perry on Old Simcoe Rd. Once again this year, he stresses, the camp will focus on fun. "We want to see the kids go out there and have fun... they don't have to be really good to come to camp. We want to help develop some of the kids skills and just introduce the game to others," he said. The camps will run from July 5 to 9 and again from July 12 to 16. A lunch should be supplied by parents: lunch will be between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Children wishing to go home for lunch must have a note from their parents. "Through the week we will sort of build up their basic skills and work their way up to team work. We'll go over the basics of passing, throwing, and heading." The week-long camp will wrap on the Friday with a "Fun Game" between the children and their parents. Heading up the list of coaches will be veteran player and leader Dave Mitchell, a Peterborough man who operates a soccer store and coaches the soccer teams at Sir Sandford Fleming College. Joining him on the field will be Durham College all-star Carey Nelson and Mr. Cole. Each child will receive a camp T-shirt and their own soccer ball and prizes will 'be presented at the end of the week. Players are reminded to bring suri- screen and hats and that shin pads and soccer shoes are not mandatory. For more information please call Mark Cole at 985-4309.
