Vol. 133 No. 34 cory 75¢ (70¢+ 5¢ CST) Hells Angels attend party at Caesarea By Rik Davie Special to the Star Police were out in force to greet bikers -- including as many as 40 Hells Angels -- as they arrived for the annual Para-Dice Riders' party in Caesarea over the weekend. Police intelligence units tracked 30 or so Angels as they made a brief stop in Port Perry last week. The riders then moved on to the Niagara region, but returned as expected on Friday afternoon. The Angels, from chapters in Quebec and Nova Scotia, booked nearly all the rooms in the Railroad House Motel. They were followed closely by members of the Quebec anti-biker task force, the Ontario Special Squad, Durham Region Intelligence Unit officers and members of several other units charged with keeping tabs on clubs considered to be outlaw bikers -- and the wait began. Officers from the combined task force set up sur- veillance across the street from the motel, and road- ~~ blocks were set up at the only two roads leading into Caesarea. Police helicopters and canine units were also on hand. ' Police laid about 30 charges including various Highway Traffic Act and insurance infractions, as well as one criminal charge. Durham Regional Police Staff Sergeant Mike Ewles, spokesman for the law enforcement units at the roadblock, said that the annual party has been of interest to police since it began seven years ago. "We are always interested in the movements of outlaw motorcycle clubs of this type in Ontario," Sgt. Ewles said. "However this year is of particular inter- est to us with the arrival of Hells Angels."
