Durham Regional Police report that the bolt struck sometime around 6 p.m. on July 17, as a large group of people gathered under a tent on Hall's Rd. North near Brooklin. As a result of a lightning strike, a 74-year-old Toronto man and a 36- year-old Hampton woman sustained injuries, says Sgt. Jim Grimley, media spokesman for Durham Regional Police. The woman was. transported to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto with what were beljeved to be life-threatening injuries. Her condition was upgraded to seri- ous on Sunday, and was further upgraded slightly later that evening. At the time of the last update, she was still on a ventilator, police say. The Toronto man was taken to Rouge Valley Health in Ajax after he complained of an injury to his lower left leg, police said.
