The reception and dance were held in the Recreation Centre. Following their honeymoon the happy couple will take up resi- dence in their new home on 57. Best wishes Lisa and Gavin. When the words "farm acci- dent" are associated with "Sunnybrook Hospital" every- one in a rural community fears the worst. However word reports favorable progress for Steve Grove who suffered a farm accident this week and is indeed a patient in sunnybrook Hospital. Without doubt there will be a lengthy recuperation period but Steve and his many friends hope for a complete recovery. Best Wishes Steve. This past weekend kept local residents very busy with the Highland of Durham events, Riverfest in Lindsay, the Janetville activities and other social events. Several from here paid respects to the late Norm Lyons in Uxbridge. Norm's wife the former Gwen Wilson grew up in Cartwright with many friends still here. Sympathy to Gwen and her family. A number of relatives and friends from the Scugog area travelled to Waterloo on Sunday Blackstock : Sa by to attend the Open House in celebration of Swain and Thelma VanCamp's 40th wed- ding anniversary held at their spacious home. Miss M.M. VanCamp from Toronto also joined the happy event. Best wishes Swain and Thelma. Another 40th wedding anniversary was of interest to many local residents. Herman and Eunice Rodman of Little Britain celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday with a Open House at their love- ly new home. Several from the Blackstock area attended this happy event. Congratulations, Eunice and Herman. Next weekend will be another busy weekend with the holding of the 71st annual Lake Scugog Regatta and Field Day at Caesarea on July 31 and August 1. Be sure to see one of the pro- gramme which list all of the events, times and locations. Pleased to report that Marie Gibson is home again from her stay in Port Perry Hospital and 1s continuing her recovery at home. Harold and Dora Martyn, Blair and. Janet Martyn, Tim and Brian have returned from a most enjoyable holiday in their motor home to Vancouver. Enroute both ways they toured many, many points of interest. There were 11 + 3 at the weekly Tuesday evening euchre party with the following results - Edna Manns with a high of 90 points, Irene Hoffman, Mary Henderson, Norman Rohrer, Reid I.Jarness, Norma Watts and Marj Davies. Lucky draws were won by Eileen McLaughlin, Norman Rohrer, May Shortridge, Audrey Mahaffy, Edna Manns and Dorothy Olan. The big news this week is the Lake Scugog Regatta Association annual 71st Regatta. "Starts off Friday, July 30th with a baseball game 6:30 p.m. followed by Volleyball Games at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31st Saturday morning children's parade commences 10a.m. at the Fire Hall, followed at 11 am with a Mutt Show at the park. After lunch 1:30 pm open- ing ceremonies followed by 39 events for all ages. At 6 pm ladies' and men's horseshoe tournament begins for persons 16 and over. At 7:30 pm Volleyball tournaments begin. Sunday, August 1st The Lake Scugog Regatta Association will once again hold its annual festival 1pm - 29 events of swimming and canoe races at the big pier. Sunday evening 7 pm ladies and men's double horseshoe tournament and at 7 pm the finals for the Volleyball tourna- ment. A good weekend for everyone. Lion's Clubs Port Perry and Blackstock Lion's cordially invite the gen- eral public to the 12th Larry Dee memorial musicians corn roast, Sunday, August 8th, 12 noon to 8 pm. This past week there was a garden party in William's Point | Albert | Putsey honoring Eleanor Colwell on her retirement of teaching school. Crime We were sorry to hear that M&M Coach Works and Sunnyside Market were broken into this past week. It's not only the items stolen but the damage done in getting into the premises. We can all help to stamp this out by watching and reporting out of the ordi- nary and strange behavior to police. Also ridiculous bargain prices for items for sale. Saturday Night Storm Falling limbs from trees played havoc with hydro wires again and parts of Caesarea were in the dark for some 5 hours. It's summer so we don't have a heating problem, but those who have sump pumps had to hand bail. I was thankful to my neighbors Tom and Doris Dean who had power and we Baseball, volleyball kick off this weekend's 71st Caesarea Regatta ran a cord over. Remember the benefit dance for Lee Wilbur By Vera Brown Utica / Epsom News There were seven from the Epsom-Utica congregation who made the trip to Collingwood on Sunday to worship with Heather Burton's congregation and the folk from Trinity United in Collingwood. 70 young peo- ple gave a ministry of music which was followed by a picnic lunch provided by the local church ladies. This coming Sunday, August 1st, there will not be a church service for the charge, but the following week, service will be held in Epsom at 10:00 a.m. Visitors with Ruth Ashton and the Aslings were former neighbour Joan Wood and daughters from Manitoulin Island accompanied by her sis- ter Ruth Evans, Adam and friend from Greenbank. Ruby Beare, Hillis and Carol Wilbur and granddaughter Jenna were Saturday night dinner guests with Fred and Lynne Beare of Oshawa and also enjoyed a visit with Tracey (Beare) Thom and her daugh- ters Maddison and Katie from Rochester, Michigan.
