Our guest minister was the Rev. Ken Heron from Bracebridge. Ken is the great-great-grandson of the founder of our con- gregation, William Heron Sr. Ken delivered a very inspiring sermon "Finding New Purpose." We were reminded of the past witness of the church to the community when the bell used to ring each Sunday morning inviting worshippers to church. Now the bell has a new purpose which challenges us to continue to be a witness in the community as it has been in the past. Ken and his Ashburn area news by Florence Ashton A ---- wife Elaine favoured us with three musical selec- tions with Ken on the gui- tar. The guest piper was Tom Bowen of Pickering, who piped everyone out to the bell site for the dedi- cation. Following this, everyone enjoyed refresh- ments in the church hall, and a happy time of fel- lowship and rejoicing. Many former members and friends came back to Burns and shared with us on this joyous occasion. Friends from as far away as Thunder Bay were in attendance.
