Play hockey at the Garden, raise cash for ice pad With the future of Maple Leaf Gardens up in the air, a Scugog man is offering the public one of their last chances ever to play a game of shinny in the storied old building on the corner of Church and Carlton Sts. in Toronto. Home to the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs for more than 60 years, the yellow brick building will soon be for sale, and, it's future in doubt. With a sale expected sometime in the new year, the days remaining to play in this historic site are very few. Steve Webb, however, has arranged for two one- hour time slots on the ice, and is making them available to the public at $50 per player. The times available are on Saturday, Oct. 9; 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. are available. The $50 must be paid in full and in advance by no later than Oct. 5. Players must be 18 years or older, and there are absolutely no spectators allowed. All proceeds left over wlll go towards funding for the second ice pad at Scugog Arena.
