16 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 30, 1999 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Diabetes support group to meet Wednesday at hospital By Sandy McCully The local Diabetes Support Group meets Wednesday Dec. 1. The diabetes support group will meet this Wednesday in the Education Resource Room of Lakeridge Health, Port Perry at 7:30 p.m.. The group was estab- lished to help people to live better with diabetes. The group offers peer support, expanded edu- cational topics that deal with the everyday coping and managing ones own diabetes. Each meeting has the support of a diabetes educator whose primary function is to help facili- tate the meeting and help people to live suc- cessfully with the day to day management of their diabetes. This week, we feature Valarie Balogh who is a registered Chiropodist. Valarie works with clients who have diabetic foot complications. Valarie will discuss her role in foot care that is different from that of the Foot Care Nurse. Valarie will bring a slide presentation to show people some of the complications people with diabetes can have. Remember - "diabetes doesn't hurt - until it is doing great damage" and people who have diabetes have a far greater chance of having complications :# Christmas Trees CAUSEWAY LIVE BAIT #2080 Hwy. 7A Dec. 3, 1999 Pine & Spruce Free Delivery in local area CHRISTMAS TREES CUT YOUR OWN OR PRE-CUT SPRUCE, PINE, FIR BLACKSTOCK 7A to Blackstock 8km south on Durham 57 OPEN DAILY 9am-5pm Free Tree Baling * Hot Chocolate OSHAWA MARK PUCKR 985-4300 Tor.
