John Moore handled the goaltending duties as he earned the shutout, while two goals and one assist from Brad Menzies was enough offensive to get Van & Truck World the win. Rick Sheehey added the other Van & Truck World goal along with one assist and it was Dave Dickson setting up three, while Mike Geer added one helper in the game. Taylor Ford/Mercury 2 Harrison Fuels | Another low-scoring affair was won by Taylor Ford/Mercury as they handed Harrison Fuels a 2-1 defeat. Bill Eade was stellar between the Taylor Ford/Mercury pipes, while the offense of Bill Bridge and Jamie Menzies was enough to supply the win. Darcy Milligan added one for Harrison in a losing cause, but the two points went to Taylor Ford/Mercury. ON THE RUN: Riders once again took the ice of Lake Scugog last Sunday afternoon when the Oshawa Competition Motorcycle Club resumed : racing near the boat launch. The club races each week on the ice throughout the months of January and February, in a variety of age and bike classes. Here, a number of racers negotiate a tricky corner while warming up for a qualifier. MoJacks, Ice in Round One Port Perry will face Georgina in the first round of the 2000 Junior C playoffs By John B. McClelland Port Perry Star The Port Perry Mo)acks will meet the Georgina ice in the opening round of the Central Junior C playoff series. The best-of-seven affair gets underway this Friday night in Keswick, with Game 2 at the Scugog Arena, Sunday at 7 p.m. The other series will feature Lakefield and Uxbridge, starting tonight in Lakefield and then Friday in Uxbridge. The MoJacks will enjoy home- ice advantage thanks to a second-place finish in the Central League stand- ings. And they certainly didn't back into second spot overall as they put together three wins in their final three games for 47 points -- three ahead of Georgina and five up on third-place Uxbridge. Lakefield Chiefs finished in top spot with just one loss all season. Little Britain and Bobcaygeon missed the playoffs. The MoJacks not only won their last three games, they put some pretty big numbers up on the score- board in the prbcess. Last Thursday night on home ice, the MoJacks pounded the Merchants 10-3; two nights later in Little Britain, they won 11-5; and Sunday at home they finished off the regular schedule with a 7-6 win over the Bullets who played like they did not want to end their season on a losing note. The Ice slipped ahead of Uxbridge in the final standings after taking three of four points from the Bruins over the weekend (a 2-2 tie and 4-2 victory). With the playoff picture finally settled, MoJack's head coach Tom Thornbury said the upcoming series with Georgina will be "an interesting one." He said the Georgina strong points are team speed and the ability to move the puck. To counter those threats, the head coach said the MoJacks will try to put constant pres- sure on the Ice defense corps to break up the attack before it gets started. There is not much to choose between the two clubs as they split the six games right down the middle with three wins each. If it means any- thing, the MoJacks downed the Ice 6- 3 in their last meeting Jan. 30 at the Turn to Page 24 B. Callery & Associates 3 Square Boy Pizza 2 This close one went to B. Callery & Associates as the Pizza Boys failed to deliver yet again, falling by a score of 3-2. This game was over early as the Associates jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Brian Williamson netted a pair, while Paul Stanley added a single marker. A late offensive delivery by the Pizza Boys made the game close as Carl Durward and Willy Edwards were able to locate the back of the net. It would not be enough however, as it was the Associates coming out on top. Cedar Creek Contracting 3 Compton Communications | The heroics of John Harman proved to be the differ- ence in this contest as the Contractors defeated Compton Communications by a score of 3-1. Harman's two goals and one assist were key in the victory as week in and week out his offense is the difference. Mike Ayres also did some damage to the Compton Turn to Page 23 ANALDA TEER SUNDAY, | BARBERICKSTYLIST Ga LAIN FEBRUARY 20 | Hercuting for the oTERENNALS PORTPERRY whole family a | oie EV n H 120.4 y shrubs rees bedding Mojacksvs. Georgina ||, Ver: 7304 Tuva fic. ts . .
