Bill Brock on the mend in Port Perry hospital By Chris Hall Port Perry Star Two weeks after he sus- tained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident, Bill Brock has been trans- ferred from a Toronto hos- pital back to Port Perry. A well-known Port Perry resident and business- man, Mr. Brock, 68, suf- fered serious head and internal injuries on April 24 while riding his 1984 Honda Goldwing motorcy- cle near the hamlet of Sonya. Durham Regional Police report that Mr. Brock was southbound on County Rd. 2 when he was involved in a collision with a car at the intersection with Durham Rd. 13. Reports indicate that an Uxbridge man pulled out onto County Rd. 2 in front of Mr. Brock, causing the Port Perry man to lose control of his bike. The Uxbridge man has since been charged by police. Mr. Brock was taken to BILL BROCK: On the mend after his April 24 motorcycle crash. hospital in Port Perry and later airlifted to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, where he was ini- tially listed in critical but stable condition. He was admitted with a serious concussion, skull fractures, broken ribs and a punc- tured lung. After more than a week of intensive care, Mr. Brock was returned to the Port Perry hospital on May 2, says family friend Paul Atculus. "He's returned to Port Perry hospital, where he will be undergoing reha- bilitation," said Mr. Arculus. " "He's physically fine; he underwent a CAT scan and there were no problems." But the patriarch of the Brock family, which has operated Brock's Department Store in Port Perry for several genera- tions, has suffered memo- ry loss. "He's a long way off in terms of getting back his memory back. None of his memory has come back yet; he doesn't remember much at all about the acci- dent, Port Perry and the people around him," said Mr. Arculus. "It'll be some time before he gets his memory back as a result of the injury, but the long-term prognosis is good."
