Ron Fellows will be in attendance along with several other drivers from the American Le Mans Series. Also expected are drivers from the supporting feature series. Confirmations will come within the next day. In honor of Ron Fellows and his Pratt & Miller Corvette C5-R team entry at Mosport, Corvette owners are invited to show-off their pride and joy Detroit iron, amongst the tremendous variety of cruise cars from all manufacturers. The Panoz, Le Mans Prototype (LMP) will be on display, as well as this year's winning car from the presti- gious 24 hr. of Le Mans, the Audi R8R Prototype. Continuing the festival activities, the night at Haugen's promises to be a "For The Fans" night and lots of fun! Ajax, Ontario based band Wild Blue Yonder will have the crowd dancing in their spot. Wild Blue Yonder have kindly offered their talent to the globemegawheels.com Grand Prix Festival activities this week. A tire rolling contest will pair Le Mans and supporting feature drivers with fans, to test their crew member skills. It's all for fun, with prizes going to the top tire rolling teams. The contest will start at 7:00 p.m. Immediately following the tire-rolling contest, at approximately 7:30 p.m., there will be a driver autograph session. The autograph session will run to 8:00 p.m. "Cruise Night" at Haugen"s Chicken & Ribs Barbecue Turn to Page 23 Solid hitting, \ PRACTICE SWING: Paul Ibey of Port Perry was out taking a few practice swings at Country Acres driving range and mini-putt on Hwy. 7A just west of town last Sunday (July 30). The local business has been busy recently with the return of the warmer weather. Cartwright Minor Ball report Womens' soccer action Dana's girls defeat Bowmanville 4-1 The ladies soccer team sponsored by Dana's Goldsmithing travelled te Bowmanville on July 18 for a make-up game. This game was fast paced from the opening kick off, with good end to end action by both teams. Both goalies made outstanding saves and kept their respec- tive teams in the game. Dana's gals opened the scoring when Mandy Wakeford scored on a nice pass through from Holly Ebbs to make the score 1-0 for Port. Another fast break near the end of the half put Elizabeth Russell in alone and she tucked the ball high into the net. The first half ended 2-0 for Dana's. The second half was played much the same as the first with lots of exciting passes and crosses being made. Christa Kooger made a nice cross to the front of the net where Mandy got her second goal of the game. Midway through the second half Mel Martin scored for Bowmanville to make the score 3-1. After the ensuing kick-off Dana's took the ball deep into Bowmanville territory and from a scramble in front of the net Kim Coates was able to round out the scoring to make the final 4-1. On July 26 the ladies played in Port against the other Scugog team. This game was highlighted by the strong play of Roni Sue Dodd who scored three in a row for her "hat trick". Turn to Page 23 defence spark All-Flags to victory T-Ball All Flags Service vs. Tyrone (18-13) Solid hitting by the All Flags team. Trenton Mugford, Katie Grove and Katie Monk had extra base hits. Dylan Van Tienan and Garrett Gerow played tough defense at pitcher and first base. Good game for Tyrone! Excellent teamwork by the whole team of 13 players! Nicholas Beasley made great stops at the pitcher's mound and perfect throws to the plate! Excellent throw by Sarah Whitley from short stop to home to end the game! Tyke Campbell Electric vs. Dr. Workman Hawkeyes (0-5) Hawkeyes Andrew Brodie had a great double play, two run homer and pitched three solid innings. Ryan Bullock hit a single and a double while Tory Alain had two good singles. Campbell Electric's defense, led by a nice stop by Tyler James at 3rd, strong back catching from Curtis Gibbons and Kaitlyn Foster, as well as an exciting tag out at |st by Daniel Shields, helped hold back a strong opposition to lim- ited runs. Good eyes at bat by Tanner Cook and Arianna Racine against tough pitching. Dr. Workman Hawkeyes vs. Cummings Backhoe (13-5) Hawkeyes Ryan Bullock had three solid hits and good base running.
