Cartwright Minor Ball report Womens' soccer action Dana's girls defeat Bowmanville 4-1 The ladies soccer team sponsored by Dana's Goldsmithing travelled te Bowmanville on July 18 for a make-up game. This game was fast paced from the opening kick off, with good end to end action by both teams. Both goalies made outstanding saves and kept their respec- tive teams in the game. Dana's gals opened the scoring when Mandy Wakeford scored on a nice pass through from Holly Ebbs to make the score 1-0 for Port. Another fast break near the end of the half put Elizabeth Russell in alone and she tucked the ball high into the net. The first half ended 2-0 for Dana's. The second half was played much the same as the first with lots of exciting passes and crosses being made. Christa Kooger made a nice cross to the front of the net where Mandy got her second goal of the game. Midway through the second half Mel Martin scored for Bowmanville to make the score 3-1. After the ensuing kick-off Dana's took the ball deep into Bowmanville territory and from a scramble in front of the net Kim Coates was able to round out the scoring to make the final 4-1. On July 26 the ladies played in Port against the other Scugog team. This game was highlighted by the strong play of Roni Sue Dodd who scored three in a row for her "hat trick".
