Walk This Way workshop's Sept. 11 Durham Lives! wants you to walk a mile in each other's shoes by inviting you and your friends to "Walk This Way," a work- shop designed to encour- age walking and the use of trails to increase physical activity. "The goal of Walk This Way is to help community members start walking groups that will assist them to get more physically active using the many trails located throughout Durham Region," explains Chris Arnott, a public health nurse with Durham Region Health Department. As part of the workshop, participants will also be given useful walk- ing resources, information on the types of trails avail- able within the region and tips for walking safely. The workshop will be held on Sept. 11 from 9:30 to 11:30 am. at the Port Perry United Church, 294 Queen St. Guest speakers will include representa- tives from the Ontario Active Living Community Action Project and Hike Ontario. The workshop will conclude with an orga- nized walk through down- town Port Perry and along the waterfront. Light refreshments will be pro- vided and all participants must be pre-registered.
