The club members were from all over North America and set up their trailers in the fairgrounds. I'm sure that under the direction of Don and Grace Proutt they have taken great memories of the Cartwright area away with them. Lions, remember that we're back at the Rec. Centre this Wednesday, Sept. 5. Check your September calendar for com- ing events. It is also cheese week, so get out and get your orders early. Caesarea Church Update By Val Chapman Work is still going forward, but we still need volunteers to help finish drywalling, painting, woodworking, plumbing, etc. So, please consider lending a hand if you have any skills in any of these areas. We would greatly appreciate it. Our new roof looks just great thanks to Mike and com- pany. Our community church is looking better every day. We should be showing a quick rise on the "thermometer" sign soon, as our financial goal per the "chal- lenge" was reached on time. Our grateful thanks to all those who worked hard to make it happen. Don't forget that our church open house dates are Sept. 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Drop in to take a look for yourself. Hope to see you there. 'Did You Know That? -- When the dam was erected at Lindsay, water was forced south-west and it flood- ed and Lake Scugog was formed from what was once a creek. A small fleet of boats operated on the lake carrying both cargo and passengers between Port Perry and Lindsay. The first boat, as we read, to sail Scugog was the "Lady Ida," propelled by a horse, plodding a circular course on a log boat to one side. (From "Centennial Fair" booklet, 1865-1965). A community welcome goes to David and Tammy Stevenson and daughter Abby as they move to the Epsom home formerly owned by the Simmonds' family.
