David Reeve, a retired minister now living in Bobcaygeon chose for this ser- mon "The church is one founda- tion." The choir provided two musical numbers, enjoyed by all. Donna Sweetman and Fred Puckrin took part in the presenta- tion of the Memorial Book and Artifact Display Case. The Clerk of Session, Don Beacock, and Rev. Ross Carson accepted them on behalf of the church. A social hour followed in the lower hall. Next Sunday will Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving to all. be Burns Church congregation marks Family Day ASHBURN by Florence Ashton Everyone enjoyed Family Sunday at Burns when the chil- dren joined with us in worship. At the beginning of the service Graeme, lan, Dave and Karen led us in songs of worship. Sandra Barnes read a lovely story "Promises and Rainbows" to the children, a story of Noah which they have been learning about at Sunday School. Graeme introduced his little friend Leonard who lived in a suitcase and they had a conversation of the importance of prayer in our lives. Dave, accompanied on his guitar favoured us with a version of the Lord's Prayer. We all enjoyed special desserts down- stairs even a huge birthday cake for Graeme, who celebrated his birthday last week. Next Sunday we celebrate | Holy Communion with Rev. lan Morrison assisting. Last Wednesday night there were only 49 entries in the chrysanthemum and vegetables show at Brooklin Horticultural. Special awards went to Norma Ingleton for the best hardy chrysanthemum (a single pink); best decorative Eileen M. Slute for her wildwood flower arrange- ment and Eileen Slute won the best specimen vegetable/fruit with her cooking onions. Next meeting will be Oct. 24 with the Halloween competition. The first euchre party for the fall session was on Thursday, Sept. 27 with seven tabies. Ladies first went to Betty Lee, second - Anne Budd, men's high - Fred Taber, second - Gord Graig, lone hands - Doris Evans; door prize winners - Kay Brown and Jan Genge; share the wealth - Ellen Gibson and Gert Maynard. Next euchre will be Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Centre. Art and Eva Richardson visit- ed Theo and Joan Knight on Saturday afternoon. Doug and Florence Ashton attended a Gospel Music Concert at Elm Lodge on Saturday evening with four groups being featured. One group was Middle Cross, a southern Gospel Quartet, who will be ministering in music at Burns Church Sunday, Nov.
