Ruby and friend returned with Sharon to Fort Erie for a few days. The Greenbank Senior Choir practice is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Junior Choir practice for the month of October will be Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Pleased to report that John Cook, Cliff Rodd, and Ross Real have all returned home from the hospital. The Folk Music Event for this month will be Club Jango on Oct. 20. Phone 905-985-8351 for tick- ets. Winners at the euchre on GREENBANK NEWS by Doris Hill Friday evening were: ladies - Kay Brown, Iva Phoenix, Muriel Tassie, and Muriel Gibson. Snow and sleet included ... now really. There were countless family gatherings held for Thanksgiving with all of the usual great food and family visiting. At the United Church, the Sacrament of Infant Baptism was conducted the past: two Sundays. A week ago, Ashley Sarah, daugh- ter of Shawn and Elizabeth Hoskin was received. Following church, Shawn and Elizabeth hosted a family gathering in honor of Ashley's baptism. Guests were Ron and Sandra Hoskin, Blackstock, Frank and Stella Facciolo, Ajax, Tony and Dorothy Facciolo, Matthew and Michael of Brooklin, Tracy and Mark Schutt of Richmond Hill, Craig and Lisa Hoskin and Jason of Woodville. On Thanksgiving Sunday both the Sacrament of Infant Baptism and Holy Communion were conduct- ed by Rev. Karen Bursey. Nolan Gerald Marino, son of Susan and Gerry Marino and Kaitlyn Urguhart Kyte, daughter of Jason and Tracy Kyte were received. Following church, David and Donna Kyte were proud and thrilled to host a baptism celebration for their grandchildren, Nolan Marino and Kaitlyn Kyte at the home of their great- grandmother Edith McLaughlin. Attending this happy occasion were great- grandparents Harold and Jean Kyte and grandpar- ents Allan and Sandy Urguhart and grandmother Mary Marino as well as all of the aunts and uncles, cousins and friends who shared the day with the families on this special day. On Wednesday of this week, the regular October meeting of the Blackstock Agriculture Society will be held at the Rec. Centre at 8 p.m. Bob Strong is recuperat- ing at home following surgery at the Port Perry hospital. Your many friends hope for a speedy recovery as possible. There were 12 tables plus one at the Tuesday evening card party with the following winners: Ron Middleton, Joan Middleton who also had the most lone hands, Freda Kramp, Roy Werry, Muriel Butson and Joan Sutcliffe. Several colour tour bus trips have taken place recently with quite a num- ber of local residents enjoying them. Others of our community enjoyed the last fair of the season in this area, Norwood, over the weekend. The annual beef dinner at Yelverton United Church on Thanksgiving Monday attracted another group of our residents. Goes to show that there is always some type of activity for those who wish to take part. We are at a lull here in the village at present. The Caesarea Hall Board is preparing for the Halloween Dance at the hall on Saturday, Oct. 27. Euchre Last Thursday's euchre scores are as follows. Men's high and most lone hands - Ron Stephenson, ladies high score - T. Pindar, ladies most lone hands - Margaret Trull. Next euchre night is Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the hall. Due to the rain Saturday, as well as being a holiday weekend, most of my volunteers were away. In spite of that, we did get some of the tables and chairs cleaned and put away for this year. Trust the weekend weather will be good for the rest of the month. We would like to see the last section of boule- vard cut and the flower beds prepared for winter. Then there will be a heavy concentration of work in Caesar's CAESAREA Cemetery before the Snow Blackstock and District Lions Club We had a very informa- tive talk last Wednesday night by Iris Milne on the 'C.N.L.B. organization. Iris is also a Lion member of the Pickering Club. As a contractor | did some work at the C.N.1.B. building on Bayview Avenue, so | got an inside view of the help they give to the vision-impaired. 'Also, Eileen has had trou- ble with her eyes for years, so the message delivered hit home. Dinner meet The executive meeting is this Wednesday at Lions Bruce and Eleanor's at 7:30 p.m. The Blackstock Lion's dinner meeting will have Octoberfest and awards dinner meeting on the 1 7th will honor some spe- cial people and it will be an Octoberfest theme. They tell me | need to get out my lederhosen. Lake Scugog Historical Society There will be an exec- utive meeting this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the school house on the museum grounds. Caesarea Church News The board is very thankful to all the volun- teers who have been working on the church. They trust these peo- ple had a rest over the holiday weekend and enjoyed their time with family and friends over Thanksgiving. The work starts up again Tuesday morning, so drop in to see what's going on. Keith and Faye Ashton on the occasion of their 40th wed- ding anniversary. Friends and neighbors chivareed them on Sunday evening and had a great time. Bethesda-Reach Women's Institute will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7:45 p.m. in Epsom Church. The theme is health issues. Motto: the body is the only machine that breaks down when not in use. Hostesses are Ann Beare, Freda Appleton, Happy Burridge. | trust everyone spent some time on the weekend feasting on turkey and pumpkin pie with their families. It was a beautiful weekend, a little rain, ice pel- lets, snow and our first real heavy frost but in between plenty of sunshine. It did- n't take away the beauty of the trees as they seem to be at their peak in our area (next week the raking will begin). With all the worldly happenings on the weekend, we still have a lot to be thankful for so let's count our blessings. Don and Stella Asling had a busy weekend. On Saturday evening they took Keith and Faye out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. On Saturday the Ashton families were guests for dinner and on Sunday they entertained the Asling fami- lies. Also present was Jan Asling and her friend Patrick Ellard of Toronto.
