"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 13, 2001 3 Foundation vows to keep watch on Port Perry hospital's interests By Rik Davie Port Perry Star Members of the Port Perry Community Hospital Foundation are keeping a close watch on developments within the Lakeridge Health Corporation. Kent Farndale, chair of the foundation which raises money for the Port Perry site and has con- ducted highly successful equipment campaigns for the local hospital, told The Star that the many changes taking place as Lakeridge 'Health tries to battle a $9 million deficit will not affect foundation busi- ness. However, she added, foundation mem- bers are taking the situa- tion seriously. "The people that are Lakeridge Health Port Perry and the donors to our foundation are our responsibility and we' take that very seriously," Mrs. Farndale said. "We watch carefully what goes on at the corporation and try to keep appraised of any changes that will for dinner & dancing. NO \ with the sounds of a~ ut affect either our donors or the people of our com- 'munity who use the site." With recent develop- ments at the Port Perry hospital, which include a possible plan for the inception of parking fees and the removal of the television rental service from the hospital auxil- iary, Mrs. Farndale wants residents to know that the Community Hospital Foundation is on the watch. "As always, since the inception of the hospital 'in 1946, the funds raised here, by us, will stay here and we want to remind the residents that it is our hospital, first, last and always," she said. "Whatever changes may come in health care structure the Port Perry hospital belongs to the residents of this commu- nity because we have made it our own," Ms. Farndale said. "If, for any reason, we feel that the donors or the community as a whole needs a voice to ask questions, we will be that voice." > LAKESIDE LILY'S 15 Water Street, Port Perry * 905-985-3553 Ani nou ncemer Don Macleod, publisher of the Port Perry Star, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Farndale added that the Community Hospital Foundation is meeting this week and will talk about planned changes as well as will receive a report from Lakeridge officials on the current status of both the health corporation as a whole and the Port Perry site in particular.
