14 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, December 18, 2001 "Scugog"s Community Newspaper of Choice" Alzheimer Societ Alzheimer Society of Durham Region will kick off its awareness month activities with its third annual Walk for Memories on Sunday, Jan. 6. This walk-a-thon will raise funds for local support services, research and education. Participants will walk the seasonal route at Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village. There will be plenty of family entertainment and all walkers will have a chance to tour Cullen Gardens Festival of Lights at its best on the evening of Jan. 6. Walkers will receive a free lunch and there will be plenty of family enter- tainment, featuring DoDo the Clown. Pledge forms are available in the Durham Region at AGP, Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart, Royal Bank, Macs and beckers Convenience Stores, CHEX TV, Cullen Dinner for Two at Herongate Barn Theatre. Gardens, and at the Alzheimer Society's office in the executive centre of the Oshawa Centre. To close out the month, Dr. Allen Dobbs, founder of the DriveABLE Assessment Centre, will give a seminar on medically-at-risk drivers. The DriveABLE assessment tool is used by the Ministry of Transportation to evaluate the competen- cy of drivers with medical conditions such y of Durham Region begins its awareness month as Alzheimer Disease and Parkinson's. The seminar will be held on Feb. | and is open to family caregivers, doctors and other health care professionals who deal with medically at risk drivers.
