McClelland Port Perry Star Port Perry MoJack's netminder Jeff Mackie is at or near the peak of his game these days. And with the MoJacks poised to take a run at sec- ond place in the Central League standings, a hot Mackie will mean trouble for opposition shooters. The third-year veteran turned in a fine performance last Friday night in Uxbridge to stake his team to a 4-1 over the Bruins in what was a very important outing for the green and white as the two points moved them within shouting distance of the Bruins in the standings. And he picked up The next day, in Campbellford, he saw 30 minutes of action and gave up three markers as the Central Stars romped to a 13-6 victory. And Mackie won the popular skills competition among the netminders. MoJack forward Adam Metheral also represented the team at the All Star games and saw regular duty in the game in Little Britain. Bs | - Atom Predators drop a 5-4 decision to Oshawa in OT Port Perry hosted a four-team Atom 'A' tournament over the Christmas break. Teams from Ajax, Stirling and Oshawa participated in a fun day of hockey and prizes for all. Port Perry's first match-up was against Ajax, who proved to be too much for the Predators to handle on this day. The Ajax team jumped to a 3-0 lead by the end of the second period. Port finally got on the scoreboard on a goal by Craig Wise, assisted by Spencer Marlow and Graeme Brown. Unfortuately, this goal only prompted Ajax to press even harder for the final five minutes when they added four additional goals. . In the second game against Stirling the game ended 4-1 in Stirling's favour. The Predator's third match-up proved to be a nail biter for the fans as Oshawa and Port battled into the second period of overtime:Port opened the scoring in the first on a goal by Craig Wise, from Spencer Marlow and Jared Olsen. Minutes later, ¢ Olsen scored to make it 2-0. With the score 2-1 in the second, Chris McGuiness fired it home. Late in the second, Oshawa answered with two goals to tie the game, and to set up an exciting third period. Both Port goalies, Kyle Jones and Kris Barchuk, played strong games to keep the score close. With 59 seconds left on the clock, Oshawa scored to take the lead 4-3. The Predators pulled their goalie, and flooded the Oshawa zone with six attackers. The strategy paid off as Spencer Marlow found the net to send the game into overtime with 11 seconds remaining! The first five minute overtime period was end-to-end. With no decision, the teams went three-on-three, then two-on-two before Oshawa finally squeaked one in. Spencer Marlow was voted the most valuable player for the game. Seasoned Boneless Skinless | Marinated Chicken Breasts ke Your choice of 3 different flavours; Teriyaki, Lemon & Herb or Honey Garlic.
