PORT PERRY "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 2000-19 HEALTHY LIFESTYLES MOTHER KNOWS BEST - BACK TO THE BASICS! continued. It is no longer unusual, even in the prestigious medical journals, to find endorsements, though light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek, of past beliefs. What our mothers told us was perhaps right all along: "Drink your milk. Eat your vegetables, both the red ones and the green ones. Oatmeal every morning is good for you. Eat fish. Don't drink or smoke or let yourself get fat..." Variety really is the spice of life. Eat a wide variety of foods from each of the four food groups, and remember there is more to Milk Product than milk and there is more to Vegetables and Fruit than apples!
