The first event is a winter carnival Feb. 12 at Epsom Public School. Several outdoor games are being planned, as well as a snowman making competition. To add to the excitement, Keith Goble of Janetville will be providing sleigh rides through town with his team of Belgians, Mindy and Mike. That evening beginning at 6 p.m. the Epsom-Utica UCW is organizing a potluck dinner. Later, after bellies are full, a lot of local talent will keep everyone enter- tained. "It's a way of getting the communities together as we start to celebrate the millennium," says Rod McKay, one of the organizers. "Commemorating 2000 in this manner, we feel, will make us a stronger, more caring community, and we are -all having fun together, as well." While all celebrations throughout the year will be free or at a very minimal cost, the only fundraising being done will be the sale of afghans depicting community land- marks. Accented in ecru, the throws come in three colours: cranberry, hunter green or colonial blue. They will sell for $75 each, with a $30 deposit paid at time of ordering. All requests must be in by the end of February. For orders please call Faye Ashton at 852-5389. In May the Epsom-Utica church board is putting on a roast beef dinner, and a month later there is the annual Epsom Indy soap box derby race. In the fall you can .expect a car rally, followed by a community barbecue. The committee also has plans to sell calendars for 2001. 'Each month will feature a photo of the celebrations that took place within the two communities during the previous year. As a millennium project the Epsom/Utica Collective Kitchen is providing a hot meal for seniors the second Thursday of every month this year.
