Gas Bar & Variety 7 Goreski Roofing 5 In one of the morning's highest offensive games, it was K.C.l. Gas Bar & Variety coming out on top of Goreski's Roofing by a score of 7-5. Jarett Harman was the key in the win with a hat trick as well as one assist. After he opened the scoring the Roofers began to take control when goals from Ryan Ridgeway, Bill Van Camp and Greg Warriner put them ahead 3-1. Responding in identical fashion was the likes of K.C.1. goalscorers Phil McBride, Jarett Harman and Jim Duncan. Tying the game at four for the Roofers was Greg Warriner with his second of the game, but Jarett Harman and Dean Smith again did the damage for K.C.l1. going up 6-4. Bill van Camp put his second in to get his fellow Roofers within one but Phil McBride's second goal of the game of the | unassisted variety gave the two points to K.C.L Square Boy Pizza 6 Compton Communications | This game was dominated by Dave Burnett as he put on a scoring clinic in Square Boy's win over Compton Communications. He attacked early and often and when the buzzer went the score- sheet read five goals for Burnett. Finding the net in every period, the balanced Burnett assault began midway through the first frame and finished off with two minutes remaining in the third. Aside from Burnett 's spectacular performance, Jamie Lee added the other Square Boy's goal while Brian Pomeroy found the net in a losing cause for Compton Communications. Pineridge Sports 3 Cedar Creek Contracting 2 In one of the more defensive battles of the morning, Pineridge Sports edged out Cedar Creek Contracting by a final score of 3-2. The Contractors opened the scoring in the first period when Mike Ayres found the net after being set up by Darryl Workman and Derek Fitzgerald. Pineridge was able to respond late in the first period when Scott Heasman put a low, hard snapshot through the five hole after taking passes courtesy of Danny Taylor and Doug Brown. Heasman then gave Pineridge a 2-1 lead when his point shot found the back of the cage unassisted. In the third period, the eventual game winner came from Todd Healey who was nicely set up by Ken Smart. Cedar Creek Contracting found it hard to come back and when Mike Ayres put home his second of the game from John Harman, the Pineridge Sports defense was forced to tighten up and they did indeed shut the door and collect the victory. Taylor/Ford Mercury 3 | Taylor Fuels 2 This was another low scoring battle and it was Taylor/Ford Mercury emerging as the 3-2 winners over Taylor Fuels. Bruce Gracie opened the scoring when he put home a rebound from in front of the net assisted by Brian Samis. Quick to respond was Taylor/Ford as Jamie Menzies con- verted passes from Bill Bridge and Ivan Geer into a nice goal. Taylor/Ford took the lead when Jason Warner came through after taking passes from Craig Leask and Bill Weisflock. Brian Till was able to tie this game at two when sweet passes from Brian Samis and Bruce Gracie allowed him to find the net. But it was Terry Flieler's goal that proved to be the difference in this contest. Assisting on this game winner _ Tum to Page 25 was Craig Leask and Bill Weisflock as Taylor/Ford Mercury took the big win. B. Callery & Associates 3 Harrison Fuels | Solid goaltending from Ken Harman was what led to a 3-1 B. Callery win over Harrison Fuels. Mike McQuade opened the scoring for B. Callery from Paul Stanley and Greg Ellis, but it was Richie LeFort answering right back for Harrison Fuels with an unassisted goal to tie the game at one. Two goals from Andrew Taillefer in the third period were what made the differ- ence offensively in this game. He took . over midway through the final period after Mike McQuade and Rick Hope set him up to put B. Callery ahead 2-1. He then added the key insurance goal 38 sec- "onds later when Colin Asselstine and Greg Ellis were able to feed nice passes to the slot. Big saves from Ken Harman sealed it for B. Callery as he was stellar all game in the win. Monsma Electric 9 Van & Truck World 8 This was a game that featured two ~ offenses that would have even impressed the St. Louis Rams as Monsma Electric came out on top of Van & Truck World in a 9-8 shootout. Dave Dickson had a hat trick, while Brad Menzies found the net three times and added one assist for Van & Truck World. But it was the balanced Monsma attack that led to their victory. Brad Meekins had a big game with two goals, while Ron Zaparanuik set up four goals in this one. The big difference in this game was Monsma's four goals in the third period, along with the three that they put home in the opening frame. After Dickson opened the scoring for Van & Truck World, Rick Penstone, Steve Groves and Jeff Card lit up Van & Truck World goaltender John Moore to take a 3- I lead into the second period. In the second frame, Penstone contin- ued his offensive attack by finding the net for his second of the game. Penstone was a key factor in the Monsma offense during this goalfest. Van & Truck World responded to Penstone's goal when Mike Adam came through after taking nice feeds from Mike Passmore and Rick Sheehey.
