Jack Massie, superin- tendent for facility ser- vices with the Durham District School Board, said during a tour of the new facility last week that the addition is progressing well. "We have now taken care of the steel, glass and roofing material shortages and we are on track," Mr. Massie 'said. "We have kept under budget on the project and that has allowed us to fix up a few of the older classrooms for the school as well." Music rooms, now located in the school's for- mer library, are already in use. Last week workers were putting the finishing touches on science and general purpose class- rooms adjacent to the 3,000 square foot library addition. Scugog trustee Bobbie Drew was all smiles as she toured the construction site. The project has been a high priority for the long- serving Scugog trustee. "This has been quite a while in the works and | am happy that we finally are seeing its comple- tion," said Mrs. Drew. Mr. Massie said Scugog Township was instrumen- tal in getting the project through some rough times. "Any time we needed help with variances to plans, or any other prob- lems, they (Scugog) were there for us and led us through the problems," he said. "They certainly deserve some of the cred- it for getting this project done as smoothly as it was." Mr. Massie said that exterior landscaping work will begin as soon as the ground dries and crews can get to it. Full occupancy of the $3 million project is fore- cast for September of 2000. Scugog trustee Bobbie Drew was among those touring the new library at Port Perry High School late last week.
