PORT PERRY "WEEKEND STAR" First-ever meeting was held May 4 a Inaugural 4-H Fishing Club meeting held Blackstock United Church By Nicole Beechey Press Reporter On Thursday, May 4 the 4-H Fishing Club held its first meeting at the Blackstock United Church at 7 p.m. The club is a pilot project. When we arrived there were two mounted fish on the table, we were to try to identify the fish. One was a muskie and the other was a rainbow trout. Once everyone had arrived we stood and said the 4-H pledge. Then we played a getting to know you game Port Perry with everyone. A container of jujubes was passed around the table. Everyone was told to take up to three. Then once everyone had some we were told to tell everyone else our names and for each jujube one other thing about our- selves. Then our leaders introduced themselves and told us about them- selves. Our leaders are Janice Beechey, Karen Dair, Don Dair and Joe Gibson. The next thing we did was the election of officers. Our president is Robert Star Stat Sheet Larmer, vice-president is Tim Gibson, sgcretary is Janice Kadowaki and our press reporter is Nicole Beechey. The members were given a picture quiz on fish to solve. Then we dis- cussed the parts of a fish and what it did. For our final activity we had to identify fish families. We received the slides of pho- tocopies to put in our books. We adjourned the meet- ing. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, May 23.
