a ema 16 - PORT PERRY "WEEKEND STAR" Fad TR -- A eT FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 2000 Brooklin Merchants on a roll, enjoying unbeaten season Brooklin Merchants Lacrosse squad is doing just great, have yet to lose a game. In recent action they overwhelmed Oswego 20-5 on June 10 at Luther Vipond - Memorial Arena. The next afternoon's match-up against Tonawanda had to be called due to a wet floor, that hopefully will be rescheduled in the near future. And the June 17 game against Arthur saw the Merchants on top of a 14-8 final score. New faces to the senior lacrosse home team are Duke McNutt, formerly of the Peterborough Lakers and Jonus Derks, who played in the New York Professional Association and is a native of Oakwood, just north of here. Welcome to Brooklin. We'll be looking forward to seeing how these two new men play on Saturday night as St. Clair comes to Brooklin for a 7 p.m. start in the arena. It's good to have lacrosse back in the village, especially since the game has been such a fine and winning tradition for many, many years. Show up and support our local team.
