B This year will feature a special guest, jiggler Craig Douglas. The special day is sponsored by the Whitby Advisory Committee on Seniors and the Whitby Public Library and is a pop- ular day for grandparents and kids of all ages. Tickets are on sale at the Whitby and Brooklin branch libraries at a cost of $4 per grandparent and $2 per child. There's always lots of fun, food, and activ- ities, so get your tickets now. It all starts on Aug. 17 with a trip to Roy Thomson Hall to enjoy the Seniors' Jubilee Concert, a famous variety show filled with song, dance, and comedy. A pancake breakfast has also been arranged at the Golden Griddle prior to leaving Whitby and the cost is $40 per person. On Aug. 22 you can enjoy the British comedy "Run For Your Wife" at the Port Hope Theatre Festival pre- ceded by a bus tour of Port Hope. Also included is lunch at the Welcome Inn and a menu that includes garden salad, grilled chick- en breast with salsa and mozzarella and rice pilaf, followed by a homemade fruit pie. And, it's all for $40 per person. On Aug. 31, there will "be a bus trip to the CNE to "Celebrate Seniors' Day". It's $15, which includes your bus tide and admission. Brooklin Village Church Fun There's lots going on in August at the Brooklin Village Church and you're invited to join in on the fun whether you are a mem- ber of the congregation or not. Rev. Dean and Esther Bursey hold services each Sunday at Winchester Public School on Watford St. starting at 10:30 a.m. with a different theme each week. Bring the whole fam- The Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter will be the beneficiary of this weekend's Customer Appreciation Days, which will be held on Saturday at Pauimacs Pet Food store. Customets are urged to purchase any denomi- nation of gift certificate between now and Aug. 12, and donate a loonie to the shelter. Their name will then be entered into a draw. All day on Aug. 12, every hour from 9 a.m. to Paulmac's event to help raise funds for local animal shelter 5 p.m., draws will be made to double the value of your gift certificate.
