18 - "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, AUGUST n, 2000 Durham 4-H members get some tips from Al Peck, Chris Hockley of Blitzcreek Pro-Fishing Fishing Club members get a few pointers on how to land a big one On Wednesday, Aug. 2, the Durham East 4-H Fishing Club held its fourth meeting from | p.m. to 4p.m. We met at the Blackstock United Church and carpooled to our fish- ing destination. It was an informal meeting so we decided to save the min- utes until the next meeting. Everyone had their fish- -ing rods and tackle boxes ready to begin. Al Peck and Chris Hockley from Blitzcreek Pro-Fishing (our guest speakers from the previous meeting) joined us and gave us tips on what to do in order to catch a fish. They brought worms so we could try using live bait. The member who caught the most was Janice Kadowaki with 15 fish. We were practicing catch and release. Robert Larmer, Dan Adams, Jack Horner and Tim Gibson were close on her tail. Robert caught seven fish and a tree, Tim caught seven, Dan caught five and Jack also caught a couple. John Marsh caught _ atree on the other side of the river, Natalie Beechey caught a sign and Nicole Beechey caught two large pieces of wood. Al Peck managed to tie Janice by catching 15 fish in about 20 minutes. Chris Hockley took many pictures of odd and inter- esting catches. Some of these pictures may appear on their website at www.workyourlife.com/blitz creek.html. and their email address is blitzcreekprofishing@hot- ARCHERY ~ BASEBALL ~ BASKETBALL ~ CANOEING ~ LACROSSE ~ GOLF ~ LAWNBOWLING ~ ROWING ~ RUGBY ~ SAILING ~ SHOOTING ~ SOCCER ~ SOFTBALL ~ TENNIS | | FIELD HOCKEY Foul Play Suspe cte Be on hand to witness history in the making as over 3000 elite athletes gather this summer across the municipalities of Durham at the Ontario Summer Games.
