12 - "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2000 Uxbridge Horticultural Society Society's schedule of events winds down Joan Hope won most points overall at the Uxbridge Horticultural Society's Annual Show, and also won the "Keith's Flowers Trophy" for most points in flowers and vegetables. Other trophies were presented to Marg Collingwood for best gladiolus and best Decorative, Myrna Morris for best single bloom and best house- plant, Ross Snodden for best tomato, Muriel Tassie for best dahlia and Ena Wassenaar for best vegetable. Despite the hailstorm which descended on Uxbridge the previous afternoon we had many good exhibits. Two of our entries won prizes at the CNE. A first was awarded for a "Window Box" exhibit, decorated by Sharon Bognar, and a second for a "Patio Display" set up by John and Muriel Taylor. Our next meeting on Sept. 13 will host speaker Sher Leetooze, who will introduce us to "Edible Wilds". The Tony and Betty Cutler Trophy will be awarded for the best Zinnia while other specimens to be shown will include aster, dahlia and mums. Our last Plant and Bake Sale for the year will be on Sept. 16, from 10a.m.-noon at the Quaker Pharmacy.
