Sponsored by Simcoe Hall Settlement House, this skill-enhancing pro- gram will run for four Saturday mornings, from 10 a.m. to noon from Sept. 16 to Oct. 7 at Simcoe Hall Settlement House, 387 Simcoe St. South in Oshawa. The cost for the four- session series is $40; enrollment is limited to 15 participants. Kidwriters provides an opportunity for children to meet with other young writers and share their own writing, while learning from adult writers in a fun, men- toring environment. Program facilitator, Marjorie Green, is a free- lance journalist, editor and business writer who has trained and motivated hundreds of aspiring writ- ers. The annual favourite comes later this year, on Sept. 10 and will once again be held at Scugog Shores Historical Museum on Scugog Island. All of your favourite golden oldies will be here, with cars dating up to and including 1979 classics. Classic cars wishing to take part in the show are always wel- come, and a $10 admission fee enters your car and admits two passengers to the show. Once again the museum will be serving its famous car show breakfast for all of the early birds, starting at 8 a.m. and barbecues will be firing up for a delicious lunch. Visitors will get to vote on their favourite car and check our everything from antiques to hot rods to mus- cle cars. Not to be missed, the Museum Village will be open and alive with historical interpreters in every building. As always, part of the fun of the show is taking some time to stroll by vendors or watching the enter- tainment in the museum's historic barn. General admission to the event is $3.50 for adults, $2 for seniors or students, and children under 12 are free.
