Mabley got his second of the night for the Bruins. The Mojacks' Jason Whitworth gave his team some much needed insurance mid-way through the final period, as he took a pass from Jeremy Ritchie to up the margin to 4-2. And this goal also came as the MoJacks were killing off a penalty. That was all the MoJacks needed as the defense shut down the In fact, Rankine was outstanding the entire game, coming up with numerous difficult saves, especially MoJacks were short-hand- ed due to penalties. when the back, and at one point in the second period had built what looked like a commanding 6-3 lead. But the Bruins made it 6-4 late in the second and then scored three unan- swered goals in the final frame to sneak out with the 7-6 win. "We just seemed to run out of steam in the third period," said Mr. Parliament. Rankine got the start in goal for his second game in a row and again had to come up with some big saves in Andrew Mercer. Singles came from Shane Norton, Adam Jones and Braden Tarbotten. McQuade and Mercer also drew an assist to give them three-points work. McQuade also had two goals and two assists in the 9-7 loss to the Ice last Friday night and captain Shane Norton chipped in with four assists. Mercer had a goal and two helpers. This coming weekend is shaping up as a crucial one for the Mojacks as they play a home-and- home series with the Little Britain Merchants -- another club which has developed an intense hockey rivalry with Port Perry over the past three years. And even though the Junior C season is still in its early stages, these two games against the Merchants take on added importance as the battle for the fourth and final playoff berth next spring could very well come down to a Port Perry- Little Britain affair. The MoJacks are in Little Britain Saturday night to kick off the home-and-home clash at 7:30 p.m. And the two teams will be back in Port Perry Sunday night fora 7 p.m. faceoff at the Scugog Arena. Fans can expect to see plenty of scoring in this Weekend series with Merchants could have playoff implications® "mini series" if the last two encounters are any indication. The Merchants defeated Port Perry 10-7 on Oct. 22 and the Mojacks won 8-7 in overtime a week before that. 'There's plenty at stake " for these two teams and it should prove to be a great weekend of junior C hockey for Mojack and Merchant fans.
