Glendene Collins, manager of communications for the Durham Region Health Department, told The Star earlier this week that up to 350 people are lining up to get the free shot at clinics being held throughout the region. As of Nov. 30, more than 4,000 Durham residents had rolled up their sleeves for the shot, a province-wide initiative funded by the government at Queen's Park. ~~ "We've had between 150 and 350 at each clinic," said Ms Collins. "We're roughly half-way through them, and they're going very well. We've had a steady response from the communities." The free shots will be offered to the public until Dec. 16. It is hoped they will be administered in time to combat the upcom- ing flu season, which seems to have hit Durham hard over the past few years.
