Tyke Predators grab tourney title The Tyke Predators were very excited about their first tournament of the year which was held Saturday, Dec. 16 at Bobrxaygeon. The boys started off slowly in their first game against Bradford. This was a team Port could have beaten if they were at the top of their game. Unfortunately, the team didn't play well until the third period and the 4-2 loss took the boys out of either the 'A' or 'B' Final. Port's first goal was scored by Travis Mackey shot in a rebound, assisted by Reid Stewart and Nathan "Scott. Jonathan Brouse scored Port's only other goal when he made a ter- rific end to end rush and rifled the puck up high, all while fighting off a couple of Bradford defencemen. Brody "Taz" Anderson, who was all over the ice the entire tournament, picked up the assist. Dale Edwards, Andrew Van Camp and Brody Anderson made great offensive plays as Port poured it on in the third. However, it was too little too late as Port couldn't get the puck past the Bradford netminder. Josh Malyon, Nicholas Shinas and Nathan Scott played strong defensive games for the losing side. After some success and great hus- tle in the mini-hockey games, the boys came out flying for their second game against Oshawa. The coaches wanted a better start and they got it" this game as Nathan Scott scored in the first shift as he banked it in off the goalie from behind the net. The boys just kept forechecking and charging the Oshawa net all game and ended up with a resounding 10-3 victory. Josh Malyon showed his offensive talent as he recorded a hat trick. Two of his goals came off breakaways as John used his speed to beat the defence and then his hard shot to go high on the goalie. Brody Anderson scored two goals and the nicest being when he used his favourite deke to beat the netminder. Jonathan Brouse scored on a terrific wrap around back- hand.
