Durham MPP John O'Toole said the funding announcement marks a milestone for Durham education. "This means that uni- versity and college now becomes affordable and accessible for the people of Durham," he said. Board budget process set to begin By Rik Davie The Star The Durham District School Board has announced the dates for public meetings on its 2001-2002 budget. This year's meetings are later than usual for the board, because of delays in the annual education funding pay- ments from the province. But finance boss Ron Trbovich said public consultation on how education bucks are spent will still take place. The following are the projected dates for public ses- sions: Q Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at the board offices. Presentation of the first draft of the 2001-2002 budget. O Wednesday, May 30, at 7 p.m. at the board offices. Deputations from board staff, unions and teachers' feder- ations. Q Wednesday, June 6, at 7 p.m. at the board offices. Response to May 30 deputations. Q Monday, June I1, at 7 p.m. at the board offices. Presentation of the 2001-2002 budget. QO Monday, June 18, at 7 p.m. at the board offices. Formal approval of the budget. Visitors can tour the farm, purchase a barbecue lunch, enjoy face painting, pet some animals at the petting zoo, or go on an accessible hay ride. The event will occur rain or shine.
