The efforts 'of three young Blackstock women to bring a lit- tle hometown caring to a pair of brothers, children involved in some of the worst allegations of child abuse in the province's history, are coming to fruition. Ashley Fallis, Abbey McLaughlin and Brandy Jones have been soliciting funds and donations on behalf of the two young teenage boys, whose parents were charged last month with keeping them virtu- al prisoners in homemade cages, possibly for years. The boys are now in the care of the Durham Region Children's Aid Society at sepa- rate foster homes. The response to the girls' call for support from Blackstock residents has so far generated more than $3,000 in trust fund donations, and a huge number of gifts, including two bicycles and the donation by the Port Perry Canadian Tire store of hockey equipment and sports event tickets. "The response has been great, and we hope it shows the boys that Blackstock cares about them," Ashley Fallis said. The presents will be given to the boys this week. Anyone wishing to donate to the Blackstock Teen Fund can do so at any branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
