Port Perry Minor Hockey's still seeking volunteers Port Perry Minor Hockey is gearing up for the 2001-2002 season. The Annual General Meeting and elections were held June 5 at the Scugog Community Center. Prior feed- back indicated people did not attend the AGM because the meeting was tra- ditionally held on a Sunday so this year the meeting was held on a weeknight and attendance was still poor. Thank you to those parents who took the time to come out and have some input into your child's hockey experience.. Once again, the organization is in great need of volunteers. We need coaches, convenors, referees and time- keepers. Any help would be appreciat- ed. We would also like to expand on the PPMHA website this season but need someone to help the organization with maintaining the site. Perhaps there is a high school student out there who could use this as his'her communi- ty service? Volunteers and anyone with any inquiries please call the minor hockey voicemail line at 905-985-4636 and leave your name and number and any additional information. Your call will be passed on to the appropriate executive member. Registration numbers are about the same as last season and it looks like there will be "A" teams in all divisions Plans are in place for the 2001-2002 hockey season and possibly "B" teams in Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget. We are still in need of a Peewee A coach but coaches in other divisions for our A teams are as follows: Novice - Brad Brouse; Atom - Brett Laycoe; Bantam - Pete Christie; Midget - Todd Wilbur and Richard Hobbs. The Midget B staff will consist of Erik Hudson, lan McCready, Kenton Lefort, and Tom Chambers. Try-outs for A teams will commence on Sept. 4. Watch the newspapers for dates and times for each age group. Anyone interested in coaching B teams or house league should complete a coaching application and submit it as soon as possible. We still have openings for golfers in the Minor Hockey Golf Tournament, to be held on Aug. 17 at Wolf Run Golf Club. It is a shotgun start at | p.m. and. includes 18 holes, cart, steak dinner, prize table and the opportunity to bid in the silent auction. All this for only $400 per foursome. Interested golfers can contact Amanda at 985-3264 or fill out an application at Van Camp and Keller offices at 204 Casmir St., Port Perry. Two reminders for our members - play Nevada at Reid's Independent to support minor hockey and August 15 is the day that post-dated cheques writ- ten at registration will be processed.
