AtHands of Brockville Team| ™™ "ze = By CLIFF GORDON Brockville Magedomas over the Whitby Dunlops on Mon- day night in Brockville as they trounced the first-place Whitby team by the score of 6-1. This is by far the worst trimming the Dunnies have suffered this season and the second time at the hands of the Maggies. This also repre- sents the most goals scored in one game against the local entry. The Dunlops were playing minus playing coach Gagnon who is still out pending a hearing by the OHA on Jan. 6th in regard to the fracas in Belleville on Dec. 20th., Frank Bonelio, tre of the Etcher-Air-Bonello line, did not make the journey as he had to work. Erwin Duncan paced the Brock- ville attack as he racked up a hat trick, the first man on the Brockville team to accomplish the feat this year. Gibson, Kuntz and Richardson scored the other tal- lies. Sandy Air scored for the los- ing Dunlops as he spoiled "cat- like" Bourda's bid for a shutout Bourda was a big stumbling block ing very poorly in Monday's The locals' play was disorganized and they appeared to be amazed at the extra hard-working Brock ville team. The management of the Brock- ville team have got rid of some of the so-called big wheels and are now going great guns as they now have players who are out for the sport of the game and want to win, and not put the big dollar be- fore the keen competition. They are finding that it pays off too Their crowd was up almost 200 over the previous game. They still do not draw anything like the Dunlops do here in Whitby. The paid attendance in Brockville on Monday night was announced as 482. The next home game for the Dunlops will be Wednesday night, Jan. 4th, when they play host to Kingston. The Brockville team opened up fast and they hemmed the Dun lops right in their own end of the rink for the first three minutes The locals managed to get the play into the winners' end zone but could not beat Bourda in the opposing cage. The home fans got their first chance to cheer as Gib son rounded out a neat three-way passing play and scored with Kuntz and Thomson getting as- sists on the play. Then with just 13 seconds to go in the first period Er. Duncan scored his first of three with brother Ed and Rock- burn in on the play. The Broc fans were really che it up as this was the first time the Mag- gles had held a lead over the Dun- lops on the spacious Brockville ice. Erwin Duncan from Edwin Dun. can made it 3-0 at the 6.50 mark of the second frame and the home team were really playing heads- up hockey. They were back check- ing like mad and that is not a common thing especially for the Duncan boys. Air did a neat bit of manoeuvering as he took a pass le classy cen-|! from Williams and then went in! first and only Whitby goal. That completed the scoring for the per- ind as the Dunlops could not get the disk by Bourda, With the Dunlops playing every man up in a desperate effort to get back on even terms the Mag- gies broke out and Er. Dinean| picked up his third tally of the game. This made it 4-1 and the almost 500 fans were going wild. Kuntz scored on a break-away to really made it look bad. Richard- son scored the final goal of the ne at the 6.34 mark as the Dun- ) were playing short-handed. Try as they might the Dunlops just could not get a rall- as the Magedomas were hent on winning this one. This was by far| the best game that we have seen the Brockville team play and if they can keep up that brand of| hockey for the rest of the season | they will be very hard to beat. | nines 1235, (Thursday ; Only one night remains in this racked on goal to back hand a shot be-|second section and the battle for up their second win of the season tween the legs of Bourda for thela playoff spot has been narrowed down to only three teams. The Royal Stokers with 16 points have a one-point margin over County Bowl "B" and Whitby Dairy Bar. The Stokers, who have led this section nearly all the way, have an edge in pinfall over County Bowl "B" and Whitby Dairy Bar,| but should they drop a. couple of points it would leave the door open for a new leader at the end of the final week where it really counts.
