The CAHA handles, convenes and directs all play-offs these days. They determine where the games shall be played, take the entire gate less team travel and living costs and split any surplus at the end of the season. In the case of the Dominion final, they must pay all rail fares and meals from Vernon, B.C. and return, for the entire team, plus their daily meal allowances, hotel rooms and spending money. They pay referees, scorers, officials and advertising, plus many other items. Obviously this comes fo a staggering amount. Therefore, they must order games into arenas large enough to bear this cost. Through nobody's fault this cannot be done (with these kind of expen- ses) in a small arena such as we have here in Whitby. We had however, pressed the CAHA to have one of the games against the Hull team here at home. (Same thing applied in the Hull series.) All transportation costs, meals, etc. were paid by the association). We had hoped that with a good turnout, we might get the CAHA fo agree to stage at least one game that of the National final here in Whitby. It was our feeling - good deal of color, etc. could be added to our community if we held a game here. Needless to say Wednesday's turnout just about killed any chance the Whitby club had of getting a game on their home ice. | The monthly meeting of the, King Sreet Home and School As- |sociation was held on Wednesday, jevening. The 13 points scored by Elaine Spencer and Lucille Tutt were enough to defeat 12A's 9 points made by Gracé Stanley, Diane Wilson and Sue Cuddy. Grade 13 are now the Senior Champions.
