Mack of Claresholm, Alta, to allow the Calgary Herald to examine cer- tain court records. In what is believed to be a precedent - setting decision, Mr. Justice Peter Greschuk issued an order of mandamus requiring * Magistrate E. H. Mack to per- mit the Herald to inspect "the information and complaints which he has in his possession relating to the cases he dealt with on April 2, 1959." An application was filed by the Southam Publishing Company, owner of the Herald, after Mag- istrate Mack refused to allow re porter Bill Gold to examine the records of cases heard April 2.
